The Problem & Real-World Friction
At previous career fairs, student attendance and booth visits were tracked using physical paper passports stamped manually by organization representatives. This created severe bottleneck queues at employer desks, wasted over 600 sheets of paper per event, and left organizers with zero structured feedback or industry engagement insights.
The Engineered Solution
Digitized the entire career fair workflow by assigning unique QR codes to each participating employer desk. Students scanned the desk code on their phones after speaking with company representatives, instantly verifying their visit, submitting immediate two-way feedback, and feeding real-time demographic analytics.
System Architecture & Technical Decisions
Developed with Next.js App Router, MongoDB, Tailwind CSS, and Recharts. Implemented client-side QR generation and scanning engines to ensure sub-second scan verification even under network congestion, with background aggregation jobs tracking industry foot-traffic patterns.
